Usability: Linking to Traits[edit]

Hello SolSys,

Congratulations on launching the wiki in a great looking state. There is a usability issue that aggravated my personal experience using the CK2 wiki which I was hoping could be remedied this time around.

When browsing the wiki countless articles will tell you that X action will give you Y trait and taking decision A is only possible if you have B, but to figure out what that trait actually does just from the wiki you have to know to have the traits page open so you can ctrl+F inside of it and find the right trait.

The wiki's usability will be less critical this time around thanks to the amazing tooltip system but I believe it'd be a great usability improvements for every mention of a trait on the wiki to link back to the trait itself. This could be done by taking your Template:Icon/a subtemplates and having the inserted picture link to the right page, if not insert link text.

As for the right page, one could argue that several traits might deserve individual articles on their possible use and interactions, and methods of obtention, but the minimum that should be done would be to use Template:Anchor on Traits to allow linking to traits directly from anywhere.

Do you have any thoughts either way on this topic?

ps: Apologies if your talk page is not the right place for this type of discussion, couldn't find a more suitable discussion space.

Actually, that is one of our main uses for the {{icon}} template. While not done in the CK2 wikis our other wikis have this implemented (for examples, click on icons on EU4/Stellaris wikis). Be advised that the wiki is not fully finished being set up so the icon template links will probably be delayed for the weekend. ~ SolSys (talk) 17:27, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

Dynasty head interactions - same faith only/[edit]

Hi Solsys,

I've been checking the dynasty head interactions and it turns out my earlier edit to that page was too specific. It seems that there's a blanket ban on using dynasty head interactions on dynasty members of other faiths (including faiths with mutual "astray" opinions like Catholicism and Orthodox). I'm going to just add this note to the paragraph before the table and remove the references in the table itself. If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know! Still pretty new to wiki editing and I'm not 100% sure I'm following all the style guidelines.

As long as it is confirmed within the game or game files that is fine. BTW, you can sign your name with ~~~~. ~ SolSys (talk) 13:33, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip! Fortunately everything has been pretty easy to check against the game with this set of rules! --Maxoverload91 (talk) 17:36, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

Move Event modding page[edit]

Could the 'Event modding' page be moved to 'Events modding'? Then it would be in the modding nav box. At the moment it isn't very findable.

I would do this, but I cannot find a way to move/rename a mediawiki page.

Thank you. ParseBook (talk) 13:49, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Already done. ~ SolSys (talk) 19:17, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Troop media[edit]

Hello SolSys,

I don't know if your talk page is the right place for this type of discussion, but i don't know where else to ask.

I was wondering if the artwork of the various men at arms units will be added to the wikia, like the terrain artwork has been?

Thank you for your time.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabio117 (Talk) 18:24, 17 September 2020‎ (UTC)

Terrain/troop icons are already on the wiki (for example, on the army article). If an image will have a use then it will be uploaded. On that account, if you were referring to this Category:Terrain images then most likely not as I don't see they have a use over the regular icons. ~ SolSys (talk) 16:52, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
