The Struggle for Iberia[edit | edit source]

"The old powers of Iberia are breaking. In the north, Asturias is rife with ambitious vassals, straining to be free. In the south, al-Andalus waxes strong but faces rumblings of discontent. The border military districts mutter about independence and intrigue plagues the ruling Umayyads. Hungry foreign powers eye Iberia's rich lands covetously. Centuries in the making, the Iberian struggle enters a new phase, and whether it ends in blood or brotherhood lies on a roll of the dice."

Guifré 'the Hairy'[edit | edit source]

"When his father and uncle were butchered by the Duke of Toulouse, the Frankish king took their lands, leaving Guifré and his cousins destitute. It's been twenty years, and the wheel turns. Reappointed to his father's lands, Guifré's scheming cousin has likewise taken back his birthright, and their new liege is a cousin of the man who killed their parents. You of all people know that fortunes can change in the blink of an eye, and crave a more secure prize — Barcelona."

Without a crown of his own, he became known as 'the Bald,' though he eventually did inherit Aquitaine and West Francia.
